A FOOTBALL fanatic is putting his shirt on England — and it would probably fit the whole team!

Michael Urmston, of Astley Avenue, Breightmet, secured the winning bid for the shirt, which was being raffled off on Facebook.

The massive England shirt measures at 5ft tall and nearly 4ft wide and was bought for £31.

The 44-year-old said: “I just thought it was unusual, you don’t see many shirts of that size.

“I’m a big football fan and I want to build a football themed summerhouse in the back garden so I wanted to pin it up in there.

“So when I saw it and it was in aid of charity and going to a good cause I thought why not.”

The raffle was organised by Angela Higham of Hill Cot Road, Astley Bridge, in aid of charity Phab Kids.

The Charity inspires and supports children and adults with and without disabilities to improve their lives.

She and two friends, Scott and Kirsten Ward, are taking part in the London Marathon next year and need to raise £5,000 for charity.

The shirt was donated by the owner of Tonge Thai takeaway in Tonge Moor Road.

Ms Angela Higham said: “Michael is a lovely bloke. He put in the winning bid and he has also given us England wrist bands to sell off for charity.

“We are going to be doing different things throughout the year to raise the money.”

The next event that will be taking place is a family bowling fun day.

The charity fundraiser will be held on August 7, at Bar Lane Bowling Club, in Bolton and will start at 1pm.

Entry is £5 per person and participants will be put into pairs for the games.

A barbecue, bouncy castle, raffle and other activities for children will be available on the day.
