IT was another successful night of entertainment at Bolton Schools' 48th music festival.

More than 800 children, teachers and proud parents were packed into Victoria Hall on Wednesday to enjoy a catalogue of musical performances from 11 schools.

Pupils from Devonshire Road Primary School, Lever Edge Lane Primary School, All Saints C.E Primary School and Chorley New Road Primary School were among the participating school's on the night with children singing songs such as, Let it Shine, The Bare Necessities, and massed choir pieces including, Star Gazing and Sporting World.

A piece was also performed by Bolton Youth Training Band.

Bolton Schools' Music Association Chairman Val Deary said: "The festival keeps singing going in school because it is one of those subjects that can get sidelined.

"There is a lot of time, logistics and organisation that goes into it but it is all worth while when you see all those smiling faces on stage and in the audience.

"All the performances have been so good."

Primary School's performing tonight for the festival's final instalment are; Bishop Bridgeman, Church Road, Leverhulme Community, Markland Hill, St Andrew's, St Catherine's, St James, St Mary's, St Stephen and All Martyrs, St Teresas and The Gates Primary School.

New Century Strings will be the guest performer of the evening.
