HATS off to these Bolton pupils who have been recognised – for their positive thinking.

More than 150 Year Six students have been taking part in the I Can Make It Happen Project.

The programme encourages children to think more positively about their future career prospects and plans.

It was launched by Bolton Council and Bolton at Home in 2010 and sees guest speakers visit primary schools to give an insight into their profession.

In addition, pupils take part in activities to help identify their own skills through drama, vocational workshops, tours of local businesses and visits to educational, health and sports settings.

Pupils who finished the course came from Bolton Parish, Castle Hill, Moorgate, St Columba’s, St Stephen and All Martyrs and Tonge Moor.

This year’s graduation ceremony took place at The Macron Stadium where the pupils were joined by councillors and friends and family.

Victoria Pukiello-Collier of children’s services at Bolton Council, said: “I would like to thank the children for all the hard work they have done over the week and the support from the all the schools, staff and partners who have helped in making this project such a success.

“We had over 200 parents/carers at the graduation ceremony on Friday and it was wonderful to see how proud and happy they were for their children.”
