MOTORCYCLIST mourners fulfilled a moving tribute to a Westhoughton father-of-three who died on the Isle of Man.

Shaun Watkinson suffered catastrophic injuries on June 2 after his motorcycle collided with a car at high speed on a rural road.

He had been part of a close-knit group of holidaying friends – nicknamed The Wild Dogs – who were enjoying riding the Isle of Man TT street course.

The 55-year-old's funeral took place today when more than 20 friends rode their motorbikes alongside the cortege from the family home in Wharfedale to St Bartholomew's Church in the town and then on to Howe Bridge Crematorium in Atherton.

Mourner and friend Geoff Davis called Mr Watkinson "one of Westhoughton's finest" on Facebook while Ness Gardner Roberts wrote: "RIP Shaun. Ride high with the other bike angels."

Stuart Roach said: "My thoughts will be with Shaun's family and all of his many friends.

"There's lots of them because he was such a lovely guy."

Inquests have been opened and adjourned in both Bolton and the Isle of Man.
