POLICE are still appealing for witnesses to a collision in which a Westhoughton community champion was killed.
Officers investigating the death of town stalwart Harold Daniels, aged 82, continue to appeal for witnesses, dash cam footage information about the fatal incident.
Mr Daniels, who was a Rotarian and chairman of Westhoughton Community Network among many other roles, was crossing the road when he was struck by a red Citroen C2 travelling southbound along Chorley Road, Westhoughton, on Saturday, June 4 at 11.10am.
The driver stopped and was spoken to by police at the scene. He was not arrested.
Westhoughton Town Council held a minute's silence at its meeting on Monday in memory of the grandfather and MBE recipient, who lived with his wife Audrey in Spindle Walk, Westhoughton.
Mr Daniels' funeral was on Wednesday at Melbourne Road Methodist Church, followed by a ceremony at Overdale Crematorium and a celebration of his life in Brookfield Hall.
