A THIEF who stole a charity box from inside Bolton's branch of BHS has been jailed for a fortnight.
Michael Heyes, of Eldon Street, Tonge Moor, took the donation tin, containing £40 in change, from the clothing store in Victoria Square in Bolton town centre on May 2.
The 47-year-old admitted theft at Bolton Magistrates' Court and was sentenced to two weeks in prison and ordered to pay £40 compensation.
Heyes committed the theft in breach of a suspended jail term imposed at the same court for an earlier crime.
He had stolen wedding gifts on March 6 from a couple getting married at Last Drop Village Hotel and Spa in Hospital Road, Bromley Cross.
The magistrates activated that sentence and committed Heyes to prison for an additional 16 weeks.
