A FOOTBALL fan who invaded the fringe of the pitch at the Macron Stadium has been fined.

Jake Bancroft entered an area adjacent to the playing area at Bolton Wanderers' home ground on February 27, when the Trotters were beaten 2-1 by Lancashire rivals Burnley.

The 27-year-old admitted at Bolton Magistrates' Court an offence of going onto the playing area.

Bancroft, of Temple Street, Colne, was fined £265 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £26 and court costs of £85.

Magistrates declined to make a football banning order because "there are not reasonable grounds to believe that making a banning order would help to prevent violence or disorder at or in a connection with any regulated football matches".

An offence of assaulting a police officer, which Bancroft had denied, was dismissed.
