Thief stole tins of ham and corned beef

A THIEF who stole tins of ham and corned beef and assaulted a police officer has been handed a suspended prison sentence.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court Barry Gillard, aged 36, of Gordon Avenue, Bolton, pleaded guilty to the offences, including stealing the meat worth £34.09 from B&M Bargains on June 23.

He was sentenced to six weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and was ordered to pay £50 compensation.

Stacey Haslam, aged 30, of no fixed address, also admitted stealing the meat.

She was sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months and was ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge.

Teen’s attack on own mother

A TEENAGER who assaulted his mother and damaged a glass cabinet has been handed a suspended prison sentence by magistrates.

Jordan Barnes, aged 18, of Briercliffe Road, Bolton, had initially denied committing the offences on March 27, but then, at Bolton Magistrates Court, changed his plea to guilty.

The court heard he was on bail at the time of the offending and already subject to a community order.

He was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay £280 in costs and charges.

Man who created fake Facebook profile to send messages to woman convicted of harassment

A MAN who created numerous fake Facebook profiles and used them to send messages to a woman has been convicted of harassment.

Roy Meanley, aged 23, of Paderborn Court, Bolton, also sent to woman love letters, visited her home and phone her multiple times between May 23 and 30 this year, Bolton magistrates were told.

Meanley pleaded guilty to harassment and was sentenced to do 100 hours unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay £170 in costs and charges and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim or going to her home.

Drink-driver from Deane gets 17 month motoring ban

A MOTORIST who was more than twice the drink-drive limit has been fined and disqualified for more than a year after admitting the offence.

Richard Baco, 28, of Jessie Street, Deane, was in a Vauxhall Astra in Manchester Road, Bolton, on May 23, Bolton Magistrates Court heard. He had 75mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath —the limit is 35mg. Baco also admitted driving without insurance and without a licence and was fined £200 for drink-driving and no insurance, ordered to pay a surcharge of £30 and court costs of £85 and given a 17-month driving ban.

Motorist, aged 86, fined and penalised for driving without due and attention in Over Hulton

A MOTORIST aged 86 who drove without due and attention in Over Hulton has been sentenced.

John Rigby was fined £135 after his solicitor admitted the offence in his absence at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Thursday. (June 23)

He committed the crime while driving a 2006-reg Ford Fiesta in Manchester Road at the junction with Newland Road.

The Chapel Street, Salford, resident was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £85.

Five penalty points were added to his licence.

Elderly driver punished

MAGISTRATES have fined a pensioner £135 after he admitted driving without due care and attention in Over Hulton on November 19.

Bolton magistrates heard how 86-year-old John Rigby, of Chapel Street, Salford, was driving a Ford Fiesta at the junction of Manchester Road and Newland Road when he committed the offence.

The court ordered Rigby to pay £105 in costs and charges and endorsed his licence with five penalty points.

Thief given night curfew

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to an electronically tagged curfew after he admitted theft of a sat nav and other items.

Bolton magistrates heard how Joshua Birchall, of Maple Crescent, Leigh, stole the gadget, sunglasses, mobile phone and leather gloves, together worth £207, in Bolton on June 7.

He pleaded guilty and the court heard that three days before the offence he burgled Manchester Same Day Ltd in Atherton and stole two Honda motorcycles worth £2,000.

Birchall also admitted six other thefts and attempted thefts in Bolton on June 7.

Magistrates sentenced him to six months in prison, suspended for 18 months and ordered a 12 week 8pm to 7am curfew.

He must also participate in a behaviour programme and pay £1,000 in compensation.

Attacker breached ban

A MAN who attacked a woman he was banned from contacting has been jailed for 12 months.

Bolton magistrates heard how a restraining order was made by a court in February last year but on December 8 Gerrard McGreavy contacted the woman and attacked her.

McGreavy, aged 44, of Chorley New Road, Bolton, admitted committing the offences and failing to surrender to court.

In addition to the jail sentence McGreavy was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Restraining order for man

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to a conditional discharge for 12 months after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman on June 6.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court Gary Atherton, aged 50, of Battenberg Road, Bolton, was also ordered to pay £120 in costs and charges and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim or going to her home.

Teen bound over to keep the peace

TEENAGER Hannah Openshaw, aged 19, of Rose Avenue, Farnworth, has appeared in court and agreed to be bound over to keep the peace at Bolton Magistrates court after she breached the peace on June 26.

Shoplifter to do 107 hours of unpaid work

A SHOPLIFTER has been ordered to carry out 107 hours unpaid work after admitting stealing food, worth £44, from a Lidl supermarket in Farnworth.

At Bolton Magistrates Court Krzyszlof Tylek, aged 37, of Balmoral Road, Farnworth, was told he will be subject to supervision by the probation service for 12 months.

Tylek was already subject to a four week suspended prison sentence for theft at the time of the offence and the court ordered that it should continue.

He must also pay £200 in costs and charges.

Tonge Moor housemates fined for possession of heroin

TWO men at a house in Tonge Moor have been separately fined for heroin possession.

Robert Bannister-Hanley 42, and Carl Dakin, 40, both of George Barton Street, were caught with the diamorphine on April 29.

They both admitted possession of class A drugs at Bolton Magistrates Court and were each fined £110 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and costs of £85.

Shoplifter who stole household goods from B&Q gets conditional discharge

A WOMAN who shoplifted household goods has been sentenced.

Becki Bebbington, aged 29, of Ainsworth Street, Bolton, stole unspecified items from B&Q on May 12.

She admitted theft and possession of amphetamine at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

The court gave her an 18-month conditional discharge and ordered her to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20.

Attacker knocked out five of victim's teeth with multiple punches

A MAN who punched his victim multiple times, knocking out five teeth, has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Nizamuddin Gajra, of Halliwell Road, Halliwell, admitted causing actual bodily at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

The 31-year-old was jailed for 26 weeks, suspended for 12 months, and must complete 200 hours of unpaid work.

A restraining order protecting the victim was approved and Gajra was order to pay a £115 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

Drink offence

A 49-YEAR-OLD has admitted being drunk and disorderly.

Simon Hayes, of Oaks Street, Bolton, was misbehaving on June 6 in Bolton Road, Farnworth.

He admitted the offence and was given a six-month conditional discharge.

Hayes was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and £85 court costs.

Year road ban for drug-driver

A 35-YEAR-OLD motorist has sentenced for drug-driving.

Mehmood Matadar, of Melbourne Road, Deane, was fined £180 and disqualified from the road for 12 months following the offence.

He drove a Vauxhall Vectra in Trinity Street in Bolton town centre on April 26 and gave a reading of 25mg of cannabis in 100ml of blood, above the legal limit.

Matadar admitted drug-driving at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (June 28) and was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and £85 court costs.

There was no separate penalty for possession of cannabis, which the 35-year-old also admitted.

Motorist who crashed into van in Chorley Old Road admits failing to stop at scene of accident

A DRIVER who crashed into a van has been fined.

Hiten Patel, of Mornington Road, Bolton, was behind the wheel of a 2004-reg Mercedes when a 2009-reg Iveco van was damaged in Chorley Old Road, Bolton, on September 25.

He changed his plea to admit failing to stop at the scene of an accident at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Tuesday. (June 28)

The 34-year-old was fined £180 and ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £300 court costs.

Seven penalty points were added to his driving licence.

Shoplifter stole £666 of clothing, ornaments and cosmetics from Marks and Spencer

A SHOPLIFTER who stole from Marks and Spencer has been sentenced.

Qualsoon Shah took £666.50 of products from the Deansgate store in Bolton town centre.

Her June 4 haul included clothing, cosmetics and ornaments.

The 37-year-old admitted theft at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

Shah, of East Street, Bury, was sentenced to a six-month community order with 15 days' rehabilitation activity and a ban from every Marks and Spencer store.

She was fined £250 and ordered to pay an £85 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
