TALENTED young actors took audiences on a magical journey to Wonderland.

Awaiting them were Alice and the White Rabbit to end the school year on a high note.

Thespians at St Paul's CE Primary School in Astley Bridge staged Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland as their end of year show.

They took to the stage for three performances to great applause.

The young people have been rehearsing hard in the weeks leading up to the performance which brought the house down.

Charlie McGreavy, aged 11, who played the caterpillar, said: "We all had a lot of fun.

"I was a little bit nervous at first and then as we performed I enjoyed it and got excited by it.

"All of us worked really hard and it was worth it."

He added: "It was a nice end to the year."

All children in Year Five and Six were involved in the production in some way.

Year Six teacher Lucy McGreavy said: "The children have worked very hard.

"Teaching assistant Beth Mason, put in a lot of work, creating the sets and helped with their singing.

"A past pupil, Connor Harmsworth, who is now at Smithills School came back to help."

She added: "I am really proud of the cast, they were fantastic.

"The parents said it the best production they had seen at the school.

"It was quite emotional because the Year Six finish this year and a few parents were in tears."
