A MAN from Bolton is in a critical condition in hospital and the car he was driving burst into flames following a crash on the M6.

The incident happened at around 5.20pm on Saturday, July 9.

The black Toyota Corolla was heading southbound along the motorway.

The car travelled from the third lane, coming off the carriageway and colliding with a barrier at junction 35 at Carnforth, setting on fire.

The driver, a 32 year old man from Bolton, suffered pelvis and head injuries.

He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A rear seat passenger, a 31-year-old woman from Bolton, suffered spinal injuries.

A front seat passenger, a 29 year old man from Preston, was left with a broken collar bone.

Officers are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Sgt John Jennings-Warton said: “We are trying to ascertain exactly what happened and how this collision came to occur and so I am asking any witnesses who might have seen something that could help us with our investigation to get in touch.”
