TWO more men have admitted public order offences over an incident that left a father dead.

Mark Carroll, aged 43, died after a disturbance in Burnham Walk, Farnworth, on November 21 last year.

It is believed he fell ill after becoming involved with an altercation with other men.

The post-mortem examination determined Mr Carroll had a severe heart disease which contributed to his death.

John Greenwood, aged 29, of St Peter's Terrace, Farnworth, and Brynn Wood, of Vernon Street, Farnworth, appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court on Friday.

They were both originally charged with – and denied – a single count each of causing fear or provocation of violence to Mr Carroll.

Magistrates dismissed these charges after no evidence was offered and the prosecutor substituted an alternative count each of causing intentional harassment, alarm or distress.

The charge states they "used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour, thereby causing a person or another harassment, alarm or distress".

Greenwood and Wood admitted the offences and were granted unconditional bail until sentencing at the same court on August 5.

In May 18-year-old Reece Longworth, of Wildman Lane, Farnworth, was sentenced at Bolton Magistrates' Court to 12 weeks in jail, suspended for 12 months, after admitting causing Mr Carroll fear or provocation of violence.

In that case the court noted it was a "tragic case due to course of conduct over a period of the time fuelled by drink and drugs".
