RESIDENTS are being advised about changes to bus routes — as three days of road closures begin in Bromley Cross.

A section of Turton Road will be closed this evening at its junction with Chapeltown Road and Darwen Road until Monday. This is to allow Network Rail to carry out urgent repairs to the Bromley Cross bridge.

After representations were made by local councillors, Bolton Council has agreed to delay the start of the closure tonight until 7pm — to allow the last 533 and 541 buses to pass through the area.

There will be a temporary bus stop created on Bromley Cross Road for the 541 to use for the duration of the closure.

Bromley Cross Cllr David Greenhalgh has provided details of the changes to bus routes over the weekend.

The 533 from Bolton to Egerton will run on its normal route to Tonge Moor Road, turn left on Crompton Way and then right onto Blackburn Road at the Dunscar War Memorial — before continuing its normal route.

This route will be done in reverse on the 533 from Egerton to Bolton.

The 538 Egerton Circular service will run its normal route to Chapeltown Road but turn right onto Darwen Road, left onto Blackbury Road and left on to Crompton Way before a right turn onto Tonge Moor Road and on to its normal route.

The 541 from Bolton to the Toppings Estate will be as normal before a left turn from Tonge Moor Road onto Crompton Way, followed by a right off Blackburn Road at the war memorial onto Darwen Road, then left on Chapeltown road, left again at Bromley Cross Road before terminating at the new temporary stop.

Going in the opposite direction, the 541 will depart from Bromley Cross Road and do a right at Lords Stile lane, followed by a left at The Crescent.

It will continue on its normal route to Hospital Road, make a right at Darwen Road, turn left at Blackburn Road and again at Crompton Way before turning right at Tonge Moor Road and onto its normal route.
