THE genie was let out of the bottle when primary school students put on a production of Aladdin.

Teachers said that one of the quieter pupils at St Peter and Paul's Primary, 11-year-old Daniel Chandidzurall, came out of his shell and proved himself to be a talented singer and actor, portraying the play's baddie Abanazae.

In addition, year six pupils put in sterling performances as actors, and years three, four and five formed the choir to provide the singing accompaniment.

They put on two performances on Wednesday, with parents watching on with pride.

Louise Bates, year six teacher, said: "It was a really successful show and really well attended.

"The children were amazing, you could really tell they enjoyed doing it, they wanted to carry on and do more.

"Daniel is one of the quietest boys, and we didn't know he could sing so well. But he was brilliant, he is a real talent."
