TRAVELLERS have pitched up on parkland in Bolton for the second time in two months.
At least seven campervans arrived at Leverhulme Park on Friday just before 3.15pm.
The camp has been set up on a grassy pitch off Long Lane in Breightmet.
Ward councillor Debbie Newall had been informed of the arrival by residents.
She said: “As I understand it they arrived on Friday tea time.
“Obviously we have a traveller liaison officer at Bolton Council and I will be speaking to him first thing tomorrow morning to see what the situation is.
“Unfortunately when this happens at the weekend there is not a lot which can be done.”
Cllr Newall added that’s she had not received reports of any problems caused by the pop-up camp.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said they were aware of the campsite and were looking into the matter.
Travellers had previously set up camp in the park on Tuesday, June 7, and were given 24 hours’ notice to leave the site following a visit by Bolton Council and the police.
