ONE of the 13 people made subject of civil injunctions in a bid to curb their behaviour has been jailed.

Patrick McCann breached the order twice on June 20 when he was found in  Captain Fold Road and Gorse Drive, both in Little Hulton, which are streets he is forbidden to enter.

The 30-year-old, previously of Chedworth Crescent, Little Hulton, and now of Stewart Avenue, Farnworth, made threats to a 40-year-old woman which caused her harassment, alarm and distress.

McCann was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court to 20 weeks in prison.

Civil injunctions were imposed on McCann and a dozen other Little Hulton associates in October 2015 after Greater Manchester Police successfully applied to a judge under the Anti-Social behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

Two, Catherine McCann, of Baron Fold Crescent, and Matthew Barlow, of Clarke Crescent, later had their interim injunctions dropped and three others - Connor Holland, of Gorse Drive, Ryan Deans, of no fixed address, and Steven Wimbleton, of Shillingten Close - had the interim orders replaced with five-year permanent ones.

Superintendent Mark Kenny of Salford division said: "These injunctions were put in place after a series of violent incidents in Salford that we were determined to put a stop to.

"Today’s sentencing demonstrates our determination to hold to account those who cause misery in the community.

"I would encourage members of the public to inform us if any of these injunctions are breached, so we can take positive action.”

"I want to remind people that they can come and speak to our officers to report breaches of the injunctions or alternatively they can call Crimestoppers and remain completely anonymous."

McCann's civil injunction prevents him from entering a specific area of Little Hulton and being in possession of a bat, hammer, wooden stick, knife or bladed article in a wider area.

He is forbidden to contact 10 named individuals and from inciting or causing conduct that causes or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to any person or conduct capable of causing a nuisance or annoyance in relation to that person’s occupation or residential premises.

He has to inform Swinton Police Station of any mobile communications devices he uses.

McCann is not the only recipient to have breached the orders - Frankie Ward received eight days in custody for breaching the ban and Curtis O'Brien, of Crescent Drive, Little Hulton, was jailed for 20 days for similarly entering an road he should not have done.
