TWO people hurt in a collision in Harwood between a car and a motorbike were an adult motorcyclist and his pillion passenger girlfriend, it has been confirmed.

Information given to The Bolton News by the emergency services suggested those hurt in Tuesday morning's collision involving a black Vauxhall Corsa and a blue Suzuki SV650S in Hardy Mill Road were a female motorcyclist and a child on the back, aged 10.

But those injured in the crash, at the junction with Bramhall Avenue, were actually a 20-year-old man and his 18-year-old girlfriend who were on their way to a house viewing.

The motorcyclist said the crash happened as they came up behind the Corsa as it was turning right.

He said: "I tried to steer out of the way but I couldn't.

"I thought quickly and turned the handlebars and tipped my girlfriend off.

"If I hadn't, she probably would have been thrown into the car's windscreen.

"I hit the wing and rolled over the car's bonnet.

"The bike went in the air and landed on me.

"My girlfriend injured her leg and she is still in some pain.

"My injuries were bruising."

The motorcyclist said the collision wrote off the bike, which he had had for only three months.

Police continue to investigate the incident.

The air ambulance was called out and was spotted hovering over the area but was stood down.

Paul Adam Russell posted on Facebook: "I hope everyone is OK. I heard a load of sirens and also a low flying helicopter that may of been going to the scene."

Margaret Harby wrote on the same site: "It looked a bit chaotic from lower down the road. Hope she's OK."
