A TEASER trailer for Danny Boyle's Trainspotting sequel has been released, featuring the stars of the original film.

The clip for the film, officially known as T2, is a nod to the Radcliffe-born director's acclaimed 1996 movie.

Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle are seen standing on a remote platform as a train slowly goes past, while Iggy Pop's 'Lust For Life' plays in the background of the clip.

T2, which is based on Irvine Welsh's 2002 novel Porno, reunites Danny, aged 59, with the cast he helped become international stars.

The release of the trailer comes after McGregor and Bremner were seen on the streets of Edinburgh recreating the famous opening sequence from the first movie.

The duo were seen sprinting out of a shop on Princes Street, directed by the Oscar-winner and watched by a large crowd of onlookers.

Trainspotting, adapted from Welsh's 1993 novel of the same name, revolved around a group of heroin addicts in a deprived area of Edinburgh in the 1980s.

It garnered a host of award nominations, including Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film and Best British Film at the Baftas.

The new film will be released on January 27 next year.
