THIS week we travel back to the turn of the 90s – when shell suits were all the rage and Margaret Thatcher brought and end 11 years at number 10.

We’re hoping that some of our readers will recognise themselves in these pictures – all taken in 1990.

The then Bolton Evening News still took class photos for nearly every school in the borough at this time, and these pictures represent a fraction of our archive for the year.

While many of these snaps are from those formal ‘Class of 90’ sessions, others are from the various stories we covered throughout the 12 months.

They show children taking part in school projects, celebrating achievements and getting ready for school plays and Nativity productions.

Elsewhere we see youngsters burying time capsules for future generations to uncover, or planting bulbs that by now must be well-developed flowerbeds.

There are some great stories among the files – including that of a girls’ five-a-side football team who scored 66 times without conceding while wiping the floor with the opposition during an inter-schools tournament.

Have a look through the pictures – maybe you’ll see some familiar faces.
