IN between the showers last Sunday all four of the West Lancashire League cup semi-finals managed to play to a completion.

Atherton travelled to New Longton with home side batting first and scoring 156-7 from their 40 overs.

James Hatton picked up 3-21 off eight overs.

A rain interrupted second innings eventually saw Atherton safely home with 11 overs to spare, finishing on 160-7.

Daniel Hughes scored 57 and Connor Gilluley 32.

Atherton's opposition in the final of the Beardsley Cup will be Sutton after they beat Westhoughton at their St Helens ground.

Batting first the home side could only manage 130 all out with some good bowling from Connor Kirkman who finished with 3-21 and Tjase Pindoria 3-28. In reply, Westhoughton finished just five runs short of victory, being bowled out for 126, Ryley Walton scoring 25 and captain Glenn Bullock 29.

In the Hanson Cup semi-finals Blackrod lost at home to Division One leaders Burscough. Batting first the home side posted a target of 158, Will Trevor the only Blackrod batsman of note with 40 not out.

Burscough were set a revised target of 130 off 30 overs, which they never looked in trouble of reaching with Ryan Hughes batting throughout for 86 not out. Blackrod struggled to take wickets and Burscough finished on 131-5 off 25 overs.

Little Hulton will play Burscough in the final after they easily won at home to Haydock.

The home side batted first and scored 224-6 off their 40 overs. Haydock never looked like challenging that score and collapsed to 101 all out.
