THE Great British Bake Off came to Little Lever when young chefs battled it out to create the most delicious dessert.

Youngsters at Mytham Primary School were tasked to design a new dessert for a local restaurant.

Chefs at The Jolly Carter in Little Lever shortlisted 10 recipes and the school council, the Mytham Young Leaders, picked three finalists who were invited to create the dishes in the restaurant kitchen.

Eight-year-old Noah Walker was crowned the winner with his delicious cheese cake complete with marshmallow and popping candy, entitled The Jolly Popping Cheesecake.

His dessert will be put on the menu in the coming days and 50 per cent of the profit will be donated back to Mytham School.

Runners up with Jacob Peake in year one and Georgia Stevens, in year four.

Each child received a £10 voucher for Toys R Us.

Chef Jay Wilkinson, said: "The children really impressed us."

Fellow chef, Matthew Potts added: "They were very polite and enthusiastic about designing and making the desserts."

Landlord Steven Bryan added: "We are a village pub and restaurant so we really wanted to do something positive within the community. The children had a great morning and are a credit to their school."

Noah's proud mum, Karen Walker said: "Noah is passionate about cooking and he dreams of one day being a chef so this was such a great opportunity for him.

"We are thrilled his dessert will be on the menu and the fact it also helps school is even better."
