A BOLTON woman is looking for kind hearted local people to help her in her mission to support a Romanian animal charity.

There are thousands of unwanted dogs in animal shelters in Romania and the methods used to euthanise them is described as "inhumane" by Mrs Ainsworth.

Now she is looking for Bolton animal lovers to help her — by taking in a pooch or fostering until a permanent home can be found.

Kay Ainsworth got involved in the charity Bianca Filip Adoptions when she discovered the good work being done by Bianca Filip in Romania.

She rescues animals and then finds loving homes for them abroad where they can live out their lives in safety.

Mrs Ainsworth has her own Romanian rescue pets, Faith and Frodo. Faith came to live with Mrs Ainsworth and husband Steven at their Great Lever home as a foster placement.

Mra Ainsworth, aged 48, said:"I am a failed fosterer because I just had to keep her."

Little Frodo had been dumped with his siblings in a forest in Romania. The freezing temperatures meant that if Mrs Filip had not found them they would have died within hours.

The Ainsworths also have three other dogs — all rescues.

The dogs are rescued either from the road side in Romania — where many are dumped by their uncaring owners — or from kill shelters where their deaths will be painful and distressing.

They then come to England once homes or foster homes have been found.

"They are loving, gorgeous dogs so grateful to have a new life.

"I know there are dogs in this country needing homes but we help people from other countries so why not animals?

"They are so badly treated in the shelters that it breaks your heart and we need to get them out," said Mrs Ainsworth.

Mrs Ainsworth is a volunteer for the charity in the North of England and she is responsible for ensuring the dogs get the most suitable homes.
