A NEW charity has been set up to help children with hearing difficulties.

Hear 4 You has been established to provide support for youngsters and their families.

Brad Savage, was inspired his partner’s daughter, Madison Amer, aged 13, who is deaf, to set up the charity.

Mr Savage, who lives in Stoneclough, said: “Hear 4 You is a support service for families and their children and also organises activities for youngsters to get involved in.

“The charity is part of the National Deaf Children’s Society and we want families to know that we are available to provide.”

Activities up and running include a Sunday football session from three to 16 years old, a session at Fidgets in Bolton where children can take part in a soft play session and enjoy something to eat afterwards.

Mr Savage said: “This is an opportunity for children to socialise with each other and a chance for parents to get together and discuss any issues they have their and experiences, especially for parents whose child has just been diagnosed.”

Future plans for the charity include putting on more activities for children and providing a specialist service for parents, from when the child has been diagnosed to supporting young people through education.

Mr Savage, who is the vice-chairman, said: “We would like to be able to give more information especially for those who have just received the diagnosis of hearing impairment, from what to do next, because there isn’t a great deal in place and we want to change that.”

Mr Savage said the charity aimed to support the families through the child’s life and be able to provide a signposting service where families can get practical help.

The charity will also raise awareness and understanding of deafness to bridge the divide between the hearing and hard of hearing population to promote inclusion.
