PLACES are still available on degree courses at the University of Bolton for students picking up their A-level results this Thursday.

Clearing lines will be open on the day for students who haven’t applied for a university place or are still looking for a higher education place to continue their studies.

University of Bolton bosses say they have had a record year for the number of applications but is encouraging those who want to study a degree to get in touch.

A number of open days are also being staged following Thursday.

Courses are still available in the areas of art, design and media; biology; business, accountancy and law; civil engineering and built environment; community, youth and early years; dental technology; education and teaching training; engineering; English and creative writing; games and computing; health and social care; psychology; special and visual effects; sport, leisure and physical activity; theatre and performing arts and access and foundation.

A spokesman for the University of Bolton said: “With applicants recognising our unique teaching intensive and student focused approach at Bolton we’ve had a bumper year for recruitment with more applicants accepting a place at Bolton than ever before.

“But, while some of our courses are now full for this year, there are plenty of opportunities still available for those who haven’t yet applied to university at all or are still looking for a place.

“If you come to one of our Open Days on 19th or 20th August or Course Advice Day on 1st September you can make an application and get an offer on the same day.”

Last year a record 64,300 students found university places through clearing last year.Of these, more people than ever —15,000 — entered higher education by applying directly to Clearing after the June UCAS deadline.
