A THUG punched a woman in the face in a shocking road rage incident in Radcliffe.

Police reported that the man beeped his horn at the driver in front at one set of traffic lights in the town centre because she was driving too slowly.

He then followed behind her and, at the next set of lights in Dale Street, got out of his car and punched her in the face.

The incident happened at around 3pm on Monday. The attacker had a woman and child, believed to be his family, in the car with him at the time.

He was described as six feet tall and in his 30s.

A GMP spokesman confirmed: "We were called about the incident at 3.50pm, but it happened at around 3pm on Monday.

"The victim was at a set of traffic lights and when the lights turned green the car behind beeped the horn at her.

"At the next set of lights, the man got out of his car, went over to the victim's window and punched her in the face, before going back to his car."

The victim, who was travelling alone, is not thought to have suffered serious injuries and it is understood that she managed to take down her attacker's number plate after the assault.
