IT was all smiles for superstar student Kishan Patel at Rivington and Blackrod Sixth Form.

The 18-year-old from Great Lever achieved a great set of results, including A* grades in maths, further maths, physics and chemistry and an A in biology.

In the autumn he will be heading to the capital to study medicine at Imperial College, London.

Kishan said he was delighted with his results but admitted the long wait to finally see how he had done was not an easy one.

He said: “I am very pleased and relieved; it is about as good as I could have hoped for.

“I had a pretty sleepless night last night. I think I slept for a maximum of one hour because I was so nervous but now I am pretty euphoric.”

Kishan said that while he is thrilled to be heading to university, he will be sad to leave his friends and staff at Rivington and Blackrod behind.

He said: “It is like a real family here and the teachers are brilliant and really supported me during my time here.”

Kishan is hoping his medicine degree could one day lead to a career in neuroscience.
