PREPARATIONS are well under way in Bolton town centre for this weekend's food festival.

The famous festival is returning to the town across the Bank Holiday weekend, kicking off on Friday.

Bolton Council is currently working to construct the large tents that will play host to demonstrations from top chefs such as Michael Caines, James Martin, Masterchef judge John Torode and this year's star guest, Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain.

This year's festival, which is organised by the council and supermarket firm Aldi, will also feature special events with wine experts Oz Clarke and Kate Goodman.

There will also be lots of live music, a huge artisan market and special science-themed activities for children being held across the weekend.

Council leader Cliff Morris, said: “The festival is our biggest event of the year and we’re delighted to have another excellent mix of celebrity chefs signed up.

“There will be a whole world of mouth-watering food, fun and family entertainment for everyone to enjoy over four days. We’ve also got lots of activities planned for the children."

Tickets for the celebrity chef demos and special events are still available from Bolton Octagon Theatre, via boltonfoodanddrinkfestival.com or 01204 520661.

The box office is open 9am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday.
