IT'S music to their ears!

Talented Bolton bands are celebrating after making it onto a list of bands tipped to get to the top.

The 20 Manchester Bands You Need To Hear Now list, which highlights the city's rising stars, is compiled by national fashion brand Fred Perry's Subculture magazine.

The groups receive an accolade which was previously awarded to the likes of Stockport's Blossoms – who have just hit the UK charts with a number one selling album – and Bolton's Jordan Allen.

Former Canon Slade pupils Girls Girls Girls made this year's list.

The rock 'n' roll three-piece were praised for their "classic North-West guitar and vocal sound", comparing them to the likes of The Beatles, Jake Bugg and Arctic Monkeys.

Made up of Sam Steele, Daniel Morgan and Will Wolstenholme, they are currently enjoying a self-described 'mini tour' of the Manchester music scene.

Drummer Will said: "It’s really quite surreal to see our name alongside so many bands we look up to and admire.

"We have been a band for seven to eight months and here we are next to the likes of Cabbage, The Jade Assembly and the Mantells who headline the Ritz, it's pretty cool.

"Since we've been on the list the number of people who have listened to our first song Warning Signs on Soundcloud has rocketed and we have our new single Never Been Kissed has just been release, so it has come at the right time for us.

"It's a tiny taster of fame."

The band recently supported Cleargreen, another Bolton group to appear on the list.

The four-piece from Kearsley features Aleister Staley, Tyrone Heeley, Callum Croston and Jack Blair, were described as making "Mod friendly indie rock that shouldn't disappoint fans of Oasis and their peers".

It picked out single Satellite Brain as a prime example.

Also making appearance were indie-rockers The Jade Assembly who will be playing alongside Scouting For Girls and Reverend and the Makers at this weekend's Bolton Live.

The four-piece, featuring John Foster on vocals and guitar, Gareth Smedley on guitar, Danny Hayes on bass, and Andy Watson on drums, have become a regular fixture on the festival circuit all across the country.

Following praise from indie hero Inspiral Carpets' Clint Boom, who described them as the 'best Guitar Band Since Kasabian', Subculture went on to heap further praise for their "surprisingly powerful rock sound reminiscent at times of a Mancunian incarnation of Manic Street Preachers".
