A BOLTON teenager had the X Factor judges in tears with a heartfelt song about his late brother.

Christian Burrows, aged 19, a nightclub supervisor, was initially stopped by Simon Cowell as he sang his first effort on the hit ITV show on Saturday evening – John Denver’s Take Me Home.

But it was a different story when he went on to perform a beautiful rendition of a song he penned himself called Thunder Buddy.

And he revealed that the tune, which is about his brother who died when Christian was young, had only ever previously been heard by his mum.

The emotional performance brought a tear to the young Bolton lad’s eye, and also to those of three of the judges.

Simon said: “Thank you for sharing that with us Christian, you’ve got a real talent, I think you’re great with lyrics and I like you.”

He added: “’It was very brave to share that song with us, because it was so personal. I don’t know how you did that.”

Louis Walsh added that it was a ‘very honest audition’ while Sharon Osbourne said ‘It was beautiful.’.

Pussycat Dolls star Nicole Sherzinger wiped her eyes and said: “I was right there all the way and you got me, thank you for that.”

Family-lad Christian also revealed how much making music means to him during the show and how important his family are to him.

He said: “This competition is everything to me. If I was to make it big, I’d put my family first, I’d put them in a massive house. This is what I want to be doing for the rest of my life, this is my chance and I’m going to take it with everything I’ve got.”

All four judges voted Christian through to the next stage of the competition.

After hearing the good news, Christian’s family and friends came into the audition room to celebrate with him, and Simon Cowell told them they should be proud of the Bolton lad.

After the show aired on Saturday night, hundreds of Bolton News readers commented online to say how proud they were of him.

James Smith said: “The lad did our town proud, I’m not a cryer but I was so, so close with that performance.”

Korina Cooper-Bennett added: “Amazing lad. That song is so touching, it had me in tears.”
