A PEDESTRIAN was knocked over by a hit and run driver in Bolton town centre.

The incident happened in the early hours of Monday morning outside the Dragonfly bar on Bradshawgate.

Police and ambulance crews were both called to the scene where a man – who is believed to be in his 30s – was found to have been involved in the incident.

The man is understood to have suffered cuts and bruises to his head but his injuries were not said to be serious.

A spokesman for GMP police said: “Police were called to a road traffic collision after a vehicle collided with a pedestrian.

“Forensic work was carried out on the scene and an investigation into finding the driver is now underway.

“We are not sure of the model of car at the moment but CCTV is being checked.”

A spokesman for the Dragonfly Bar said: “We didn’t see it happen because we were all working with it being busy for Bank Holiday.

“The first we knew anything had happened was when we saw flashing lights.”

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
