AN INVESTIGATION is under way into the theft of mobile phones from a town centre nightclub.

Police have confirmed they are looking into reports of thefts at Level in the early hours of last Sunday.

Victoria Howarth, from Four Lane Ends, managed to track her phone to Longsight using a smartphone app, but police have not yet recovered it for her.

She said: “I had my phone in my bag when I went up to the first floor, but when I checked for it later it was gone. My friend’s phone was missing too, and so was her purse.

“We went to the front desk and reported it to the police. They helped us track the phone to Longsight but the police haven’t been able to help us.

“If this is something that happens regularly, then something needs to be done. I know it is only a phone, but these things matter to the people who are affected.”

A spokesman for the nightclub said that they had received three reports of missing phones on Saturday night, one of which was found at the club, and that CCTV footage from the night is being reviewed.

A police spokesman said: “We received a report of the theft of a mobile phone at around 3am. We are now investigating and anyone with information should contact us on 101.”
