TWO motor-bikers and a taxi passenger were taken to hospital after a crash last night.

The incident happened at around 9.45pm, in Crompton Way and involved a BMW motorbike and a taxi.

Police, ambulance and fire crews were called to the scene.

The driver and passenger of the motorbike, understood to be a man and a woman in their 50s, were split up and taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary and Salford Royal.

It is believed they were suffering from trauma injuries including broken bones.

A 16-year-old female passenger of the taxi was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital, the driver and other passenger of the vehicle were unharmed.

Watch manager Michael Hodson of Bolton North Fire crew said: "It happened right outside the station.

"No-one was trapped inside their vehicles.

"We gave basic first aid at the scene before the ambulance arrived.

"Both vehicles looked to be a write off.

"The unharmed passengers of the taxi actually rang the doorbell of the fire station to alert us.

"From what I could see it looked as though the motorbike driver and passenger had suffered broken arms and broken legs."

Police closed the road from Tonge Moor Road to Blackburn Road while dealing with the crash.
