A FOOTBALL fan from Bolton had a Bank Holiday to remember after a £2 bet landed him £12,000.

The man won the money after he put on a 20-leg global accumulator.

He correctly predicted the results in 20 games happening across the world over the weekend, including Manchester City’s 3-1 win over West Ham.

The decisive goal came in injury time in a Portuguese game where Rio Ave defender Rafa Soares scored his second career top-flight goal to boost the Bolton man’s bank account.

Other teams in the wager included sides from Spain, Belgium, The USA, The Netherlands, Brazil, Sweden, Poland, Ukraine, The Czech Republic, Greece, Russia and Argentina, with odds ranging from 1/33 to 10/11.

Alex Donohue, of Ladbrokes, said: “We take our hat off to our man as he becomes the first football fan to land a monster 20-leg acca this season. It’s no mean feat picking that many winners across the world on the same day.

“With results around the globe going his way, the hero of the day came in the most unlikely shape of an on-loan defender.”

at a mid-table Portuguese side. We’re sure plenty of people in Bolton are raising a glass to Rafa Soares this Bank Holiday weekend.”
