WITH youngsters heading off on the first day of term this week, we decided to take a look through our archives for pictures of bygone Bolton schooldays.
These pictures, all dating from 1991, reflect the fun and adventures that await students as they make their way through primary to secondary school.
From school trips abroad to discovery in the classroom, these old images should bring back some happy memories for many of readers.
Among the faces you may recognise in the pictures are former England cricket captain, Michael Atherton and the current leader of Bolton Council, Cliff Morris, in his earlier days as vice chairman of Bolton Council’s education and arts committee.
A picture of students readying to stage a catwalk show at Sharples School certainly reflects the changing styles over the decades, as does the picture of shell suit-clad youngsters celebrating the arrival of their new school minibus.
