A TEENAGER from Bolton has sung her way into the next round of the X Factor.

Singer Saskia Rosimus, from Lostock, impressed the judges on the popular ITV talent show in an audition which was broadcast on Saturday.

The 19-year-old appeared as part of girl group Girl Next Door, with the four girls receiving praise from Simon Cowell, who compared them to a former X Factor winner.

Despite some doubts from former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, the girls celebrated making it through to the next stage - bootcamp.

Saskia said: "It was a nerve-wracking experience but it was really satisfying to hear the comments.

"Simon Cowell compared us to Little Mix, saying we could be the next big girl band, and even Lois Walsh gave good compliments. They did mention our vocals weren't the best but that's why we went on, to get better.

"Nicole said we weren't ready yet but I was really surprised to hear Simon back us up. We had gone out the room at that point so it was lovely to see it on the television.

"We've had some really good reaction to the audition and it's really nice to have the public on your side."

A former Rivington and Blackrod High School pupil, Saskia joined the band over a year ago.

It is the second time they have auditioned for the show but their appearance was not aired and the group did not get past the bootcamp stage.

Although not willing to reveal what happens next, she hinted at some interesting challenges to come.

She added: "There's some exciting stuff to come. It is probably one of the most challenging bootcamps in the show but it is very exciting.

"We can't wait to see it on the television with everyone."

Two other Bolton acts are already through to bootcamp with singer-songwriter Christian Burrows and the boyband Yes Lad having appeared on the first show of the series.
