THE heat is on! A team of employees from a Bolton casino plan to walk across burning hot coals for charity.

The Grosvenor Casino charity event on October 28 is in aid of the Carers Trust and will be held at the firm's car park on Ormrod Street, Bolton at 7pm.

Brave employees hope to raise much-needed funds for unpaid carers who provide support to a friend or family member who would struggle to cope without their assistance.

John Docherty, general manager at the casino, said: “We fully understand how vital it is to support those who dedicate so much of their time to care for another – and as frightening as this may be – we are pleased to be raising funds for such a worthy cause.

"We cannot wait to get stuck into this fiery challenge and hope to raise a substantial amount for Carers Trust.

"This promises to be a great event and we’re really hoping the people of Bolton will come and show their support for a great initiative, and maybe even join us in taking on the hot coals!"

Sarah Walsh, senior fundraising manager for Carers Trust, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to employees at Grosvenor Casino Bolton for organising a firewalk in aid of Carers Trust.

"This will be a phenomenal achievement and another example of the fantastic support we have received from Rank Group plc. The money raised means that we can provide even more life-changing support to the UK’s seven million unpaid carers.

“Thanks to dedicated employees at Grosvenor Casino and Mecca Bingo clubs across the country, more than 3,000 carers have now benefited from grants to support respite breaks and essential items that they would have otherwise been unable to afford. These grants make the challenge of being an unpaid carer that little bit easier – helping to prevent people from breaking down under the strain and to find new ways of coping.”

The public are invited to take part in the event. For more information, contact Events Manager Amanda Moss on 01204 375820.
