A NEW farmhouse restaurant and pub will be created in the site of Bolton’s new logistics and distribution super-hub.

Bolton Council has granted brewery Greene King permission to create a Farmhouse Inn on the Logistics North site at Cutacre in Over Hulton.

The restaurant and pub premises will be used by staff working at the various businesses at Logistics North, as well as by visitors to the site and local residents.

The premises will be situated on the northernmost area of the employment park, to the immediate west of the roundabout which links to Junction 4 of the M61 motorway.

Greene King operates more than 40 Farmhouse Inn establishments across the country, with the venues typically service traditional and modern dishes, including a fresh daily carvery as well as a wider menu.

Cask ales and coffee will also be on offer for customers, together with a range of wines and soft drinks.

A spokesman for the firm assured local residents that there will be no dedicated drinking areas or areas for sport or loud music.

He said: “Most of all, Farmhouse Inns offer a safe environment and a welcoming culture for the enjoyment of all their customers and the benefit of the surrounding community.

“The restaurant would be a facility for employees and users of the Logistics North and for residents of nearby communities.”

It is thought that between 70 and 80 jobs could be created alongside the development — with the company stating that “Local people will be employed in all positions where possible.”

The new restaurant will open from 7am until 1am and a new car park will be created with space for 105 vehicles.

It will be the latest in development to take shape at the former open-cast mining site, which is being transformed into one of the key logistics and distribution centres in the country.

Supermarket giant Aldi has based its UK distribution headquarters and a training academy on site and has been joined by major firms including MBDA and Joy Global.
