A UNIQUE children-only salon is hoping to race ahead of the competition.

Families from across the North West have already flocked to Moo and Arr, in Wigan Road, Deane, since it was opened by Louise Smiley last month.

It is the only salon and boutique in Bolton that is just for kids – offering nails, accessories, glitter tattoos, clothes, and pamper parties as well as the usual trims.

The name of the salon comes from the nicknames of Louise’s children – Macy, aged six, and Arlo, aged 11 months – and the Westhoughton mum has been delighted with the success of her new business venture.

The 27-year-old said: “We aren’t just a regular hairdressers, we do nails, accessories and everything. We also do pamper parties, so we are something very new and unique for Bolton.

“It is something that nobody else around here has done yet and I think there is a real demand for it, especially for children who don’t usually like getting their hair cut.

“When they come here, they aren’t screaming and their the parents aren’t embarrassed.

“It is a fun environment where they can play and keep themselves entertained and where the parents can relax too. Things have gone really well since we opened, we have had people coming from as far away as Manchester and Preston, so people are clearly hearing good things about us.”

Youngsters who visit the salon get to sit in special Mini Cooper-style chairs, which were built by Louise’s dad, Christopher Smiley. She added: “My dad is an engineer and these cars can be really expensive to buy, so when I mentioned that I would like to get some he offered to make them himself.”
