BURGER fans will be pleased to hear about the latest big name restaurant to launch in the Market Place vaults.

Popular burger chain Gourmet Burger Kitchen will be opening up inside Bolton’s refurbished Victorian vaults on Monday, October 24.

GBK, as it is commonly known, will be taking up the unit next to Nando’s and opposite Prezzo, on the immediate right of customers entering the complex from the escalators.

This will be the firm’s 77th venue in the country and will create 29 jobs for local people.

GBK was founded in London in 2001 by New Zealanders Adam Wils, Greg Driscoll and Brandon Allen and has become one of the best known burger restaurants in the country.

From October 24, burger buffs will be able to try some of GBK’s well known offerings — including the American inspired 7oz Rump burger, the Stack – with chorizo and an onion ring and the Bourbon Street, featuring glazed mushrooms and jalapenos.

The firm said it only uses 100 per cent prime beef for its burgers along with fresh ingredients and sauces created from scratch.

GBK marketing manager, Laura Pettingale said: “We’re thrilled to be opening in one of Bolton’s most historic landmarks.

“There’s been a lot of buzz around our arrival already and we couldn’t be more excited to finally welcome the burger lovers of Bolton through our doors.”

Inspired by the fabric of the existing vaults complex, GBK Bolton’s brick vaulted ceiling and arches will aim to create an intimate, yet industrial underground space.

The restaurant décor gives a nod to the historic Victorian vaults, used for cotton and fish trading until the 1930s.

The restaurant joins Nando’s, Prezzo and the Great Ale at the Vaults bar in the newly refurbished venue, which can now boast a fully open nine-screen cinema.

Market place manager Nikki Wilson-Cooke said: “We are thrilled to have GBK opening up in the centre.

“It is a great brand, a quality brand and it just gives people even more choice when they visit us.

“The shop fit looks amazing and they have spent a lot of money to make the place look right — we are really pleased to have them on board.”
