Burglar who harassed his mother jailed

A BURGLAR who harassed his mother for money has been jailed for 16 weeks by Bolton magistrates.
The court heard how 31-year-old David McGowan, of Rogerstead, Bolton, repeatedly contacted his mother by phone and going to her house, banging on windows and doors asking for cash between January and May this year.
McGowan pleaded guilty to harassment, burgling a shed in Spa Road on August 11 and failing to surrender to court.
He must pay a £115 victim surcharge and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his mother.

Threats to kill mum charge

MAGISTRATES have jailed a man for 12 weeks after he admitted threatening to kill his mother.
Dean Hill, aged 22, of no fixed address, had initially denied committing the offence on August 25 but later changed his plea to guilty.
The court also made a restraining order banning him from contacting his relative.

Thief stole perfume

A THIEF who stole two bottles of perfume from a Bolton store has been jailed for 56 days by Bolton magistrates.
Jason Oudomvilay, aged 37, of Lydgate Avenue, Bolton, pleaded guilty to the shoplifting offence at Debenhams on September 30 and to breaching a community order for going equipped to commit burglary.
The court also ordered Oudomvilay to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Electronic tag order

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to be electronically tagged after he admitted breaching a restraining order banning him from contacting a woman.
Jason Wadsworth, aged 21, of Thorne Bank North, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence by visiting the woman’s home on September 14.
Wadsworth was sentenced to a four week 8pm to 7am curfew and must pay £170 in costs and charges.

Woman, 30, is banned

A WOMAN has been banned from driving for six months after refusing to co-operate with police.
Linda Tamas, aged 30, of Whalley Avenue, Johnson Fold, was asked to say who was driving an Audi A6 car at the time of an alleged offence. She refused to do so and a charge of failing to provide information was proved in her absence by Salford Magistrates who imposed the ban after hearing she had other driving offences in the past. She was fined £660 with £151 costs.

Red light jump driver in court

A MAN who drove through a junction 6.2 seconds after the light changed to red has been given three penalty points.
Fezmohmed Patel, aged 34, of Essingdon Street, Bolton, was driving a Toyota in Trinity Street on March 14 and went across Manchester Road while the lights were on red.
He denied the offence at Salford Magistrates Court and, after a trial, was found guilty of failing to comply with a traffic sign.
Patel was also fined £90 and ordered to pay £150 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

Driver fined

CAROLINE Jane Wright, aged 48, of Victoria Road, Kearsley, was given three penalty points and must pay £215 in fines and costs after using a mobile phone while driving on May 13.

Prisoner had charger

STEVEN Ashall, aged 41, of Manchester Road West, Little Hulton, has been jailed for 26 weeks after being convicted of being in possession of a mobile phone charger while in prison on June 30. Salford magistrates said the offence was serious and said Ashall, who has since been released, had a previous record of offending.

Motorway driving offender keeps licence

A MAN who committed three driving offences has been allowed to keep his licence after telling magistrates that he would lose his company and his livelihood.
Andrew Paul Walsh, aged 42, of Blackburn Road, Egerton, was convicted at Salford Magistrates Court of driving without insurance, a licence or an MOT after driving a Volkswagen Golf on the M61 southbound near Bolton on February 8.
He was given six penalty points and magistrates had considered disqualifying him under the totting up process.
However, they decided not to after hearing Walsh would lose his company.
Walsh was ordered to pay £745 in fines and court costs at a rate of £150 a month.
