PASSENGERS including an elderly pair and a boy were injured when three cars crashed at a junction.

A black Hyundai Getz and a silver Ford Galaxy collided at the junction of South Drive and Stitch-Mi-Lane in Harwood at 11.11am on Monday.

A red Ford Fiesta was believed to be "involved at a minor level", a Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said.

The details of the vehicle occupants caught up in the accident were unclear but Roads Policing Unit officers mentioning the collision on the @GMPTraffic Twitter account said: "Only minor injuries luckily. Enquiries ongoing."

A spokeswoman for North West Ambulance Service said paramedics took two people to Royal Bolton Hospital with unspecified injuries.

The police spokeswoman said two elderly people in one of the cars were treated for shock.

One of the other injured passengers was described as a "child" by the ambulance service and as a "young lad" by police.

No arrests have been made and the incident has not been recorded as a crime.
