A DISCOUNT store has opened in Breightmet – with the creation of 30 new jobs.

Hundreds of customers queued outside Poundworld Plus to mark its opening next to Aldi in Breightmet yesterday morning.

The 4,500 square foot super store was officially launched by the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Lynda Byrne.

Sam Curties, area manager at Poundworld, said: “This morning’s opening was a great success – it was fantastic to welcome Breightmet shoppers through our doors for the first time.

"We’re delighted with our new store and look forward to helping local people save money on their weekly shopping bill.”

To mark the launch, a ‘Golden Envelope Giveaway’ will take place in the store tomorrow with the first 100 customers handed an envelope and a chance to win a great spot prize.

In addition, there will be free face painting for youngsters between 10am and 4pm.

A spokesman for the company added: "Poundworld Plus in Breightmet offers local shoppers fantastic savings on leading brands and supermarket prices."

Poundworld, one of the fastest growing value retailers, has over 340 stores nationwide and plans to open a further sixty stores annually for the next three years.
