A PLEA for help has been issued by a domestic abuse charity who urgently need a new van.

Endeavour Project, a Bolton based charity formerly known as Paws for Kids, is unable to continue performing its usual tasks after its van broke down.

Operations manager Tracey Dewes said that funding or a new van was vital to keeping their good work going.

She said: “We are really frustrated because we keep getting referrals and there is nothing we can do about it.

“Not having a van is preventing us from doing our job properly. We do not have the money to replace the engine in the new van and even if we do manage to replace it the chances are that it will break again.”

The charity offers a service where it will help to foster animals who are living in homes where there is domestic abuse.

Mrs Dewes explained: “There are women living in fear at the moment because they don’t want to leave their homes and leave their animals because they don’t know what’s going to happen to them, they are worried that they could be hurt or killed.

“We use the van for picking up the animals so they can fostered while the women take refuge but now we don’t have a van it is becoming a problem.

“We have volunteers who have been using their cars which is good but it isn’t ideal.”

The vehicle was a small transporter van with a cage in the back which allowed the animals to be transported.

It was also used for helping the women by picking up their bags and collecting donations.

The charity is appealing for anyone who can donate any money or a vehicle.

Mrs Dewes said: “We have never really asked for help but we have got to now. We are running on empty. The van is an integral part of our work. It would be great if Bolton could come together and help us.”
