COMMUNITY spirited young people have given a popular local centre a brighter new look.

A team from The Prince’s Trust spent a week cleaning and decorating The Willows Centre in Deane.

A spokesman for Bolton at Home, which runs the centre, said: “The Prince’s Trust spent a full week decorating the Willows Centre, including a corner specially for children, which has helped to really brighten the place up.

“We are very appreciative of the Trust’s support – the centre is a really important place in the local community and we hope the make over will make it even more welcoming for residents.”

The community project formed part of the 12 week development course and the young people raised the money themselves for it.

The Prince’s Trust in Bolton is run by the fire service to equip young people with work and lifeskills.

Carol Ann Morris, Prince’s Trust Team Leader Bolton, said: “The team chose the project after looking into who it would benefit and asked other questions before choosing it

“The centre does look a lot brighter and the feature wall makes the children’s area a lot brighter, before it was just white.

“Every member of the team had a role and we had some very creative people among them.”

The Prince’s Trust is always looking for community projects to help out with and help organisations organise events for their members, such as recently one team organised a day out for children with autism as well as members between 16-25-years-old, who may benefit. For more information on the trust visit email morrisc@manchesterfire.gov.uk
