GAMERS, pastie fans and people who like to top up their tans will be pleased with plans for a host of new businesses in Bolton town centre.

Applications have been submitted to the council which could mean the Nobles Amusements unit in Newport Street could be expanded and a new tanning salon created in the two units above it.

Proposals have also been put forward to bring a third Greggs bakery store to the town centre, to add to the unit which exists in Newport Street and Market Place.

If approved, the new Greggs store could take over a large vacant unit on the corner of Deansgate and Oxford Street, which used to house a Phones 4 U outlet.

And fans of baked goods will be able to enjoy a sausage roll in the sun as a new outdoor seating area is proposed.

The plans include space for seven tables and 14 chairs to be placed outside the property and surrounded by a protective barrier.

A spokesman for Greggs confirmed that the new store will be opening at the start of 2017, with more information about the shop itself set to be released soon.

The Newport Street plan focuses on the Nobles Amusements premises and the vacant premises next door.

Developer Lunar Retail Sarl, which has its headquarters in Luxembourg, wants to amalgamate the two units to create a larger space which will continue to be run by Nobles as a gaming and slot machine venue.

The dame developer wants to also amalgamate the two units above the site β€” which will be transformed into a new tanning salon, if permission is granted.

A spokesman for the developer said: β€œThe proposals would ensure that the vitality and viability of the shopping parade and the town centre overall is enhanced. The scheme makes the best use of a vacant unit and brings into use currently unused ancillary space and upper floors.”
