AN inquest into the death of Paul Massey will reconvene in January.

The father-of-five was shot dead outside his home, in Manchester Road, Clifton, on July 26.

Mr Massey, who once ran to be Salford Mayor, was shot five times while in his back garden.

It is understood that prior to the father’s death he was served two Osman warnings by police.

An Osman warning is an official alert handed to men, women and even children who detectives believe are at risk of being killed or seriously injured.

A police investigation into the warnings has been under way and a representative from the police, present at the inquest, said the investigation was likely to be completed by January.

At a pre-inquest review into Mr Massey’s death, held yesterday, Senior Coroner Jennifer Leeming said another pre-inquest review would be held on January 26 at 2pm.

She added: “We will meet again in January by which time I would hope to be able to discuss the results of the Osman warning, in so far as I am able to do, and have a further discussion as to where we go from there.”
