HOMEBUILDER Taylor Wimpey Manchester has given Bolton-based charity Harmony Youth Project a new defibrillator.
The local youth organisation, which is situated just a short distance from Taylor Wimpey’s Spinning Green development, focuses on supporting young people across the region with various activities and programmes.
The firm has partnered with national charity Hand on Heart to provide the defibrillator – worth more than £900 – to Harmony Youth Project.
Charlie Barrett, project manager at Harmony Youth Project, said: “We were delighted when the team from Taylor Wimpey got in touch and told us that our charity had been chosen to receive a defibrillator.
“The Bolton community knows only too well how imperative a defibrillator can prove in saving somebody’s life, so we can’t thank the team from Taylor Wimpey enough for funding such an important piece of equipment for us.”
Harmony Youth Group is a registered charity and helps young people in a number of key areas, including building self-esteem, creativity and self-expression, breaking down barriers, and making new friends, which in turn help lower the risk of involvement in anti-social behaviour.
Victoria Burrows, chief executive at Hand on Heart, said: “It’s great to have Taylor Wimpey’s support once again, and that the company is helping us to raise awareness on the importance of making defibrillators widely available to youths up and down the country.”
Chloe Dunn, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey Manchester, said: “The work that Harmony Youth Project does for disadvantaged children in Bolton is inspiring, so we were keen to support with this donation.”
Hand on Heart is a charity that has helped place in excess of 800 defibrillators in schools up and down the UK. Thousands of staff and students have also been trained to use them.
