ALL that is great in the borough's schools will be celebrated this week as The Bolton News School Awards take place.
Scores of entries were received and judges faced a difficult decision to choose just one winner for the awards — so in some cases two winners were chosen, illustrating how difficult the task really was.
The awards are now in their second year.
Nominations came in for a wide range of schools, with moving and inspirational stories showing how staff in Bolton's schools have transformed the lives of children, while others spoke about young people's courage and selflessness as well as their enthusiasm and kindness.
The winners will enjoy an evening of celebration at the Holiday Inn in Bolton on Wednesday as they receive their awards.
This year's Primary School of the Year is St Peter's CE Primary School in Farnworth.
The school instils in its young people that they are capable of achieving everything and ensures its little learners "Learn, Sparkle and Shine".
Proud headteacher Lynn Williams said: "We feel highly honoured to have been awarded The Bolton News Primary School of The Year Award.
"This has been a fantastic year for St Peter's, having been judged to be outstanding by both Ofsted and Manchester Diocese earlier in the year, then going on to become a National Support School designated by NCTL."
The Bolton News will publish a special supplement on Saturday showcasing each and every winner and why it was believed they were most deserving of the award — although every nominee really was a winner.
