A BOLTON business has smashed its £25,000 fundraising target in aid of its 25th year in operation.

Lancashire Brick and Tile Limited started in 1990 from the dining room of entrepreneur Martyn Wells.

The company, which has evolved into one of the leading suppliers of bricks and façade materials in the UK, now employs 12 staff and has recently trained two apprentices.

In aid of its milestone 25th year, Mr Wells, managing director, came up with the idea to try and raise £25,000 to celebrate it.

Throughout the year the business has been fundraising through different events, such as a Peter Kay dance-a-thon, sky dive, abseil, poker night, Iron Man UK and Tough Mudder.

The business also hosted a brick industry charity ball which raised a total of £18,475 making the total for the year to more than £34,000.

Mr Wells said: “We are absolutely made up with the total.

“The dinner was a huge success and the first time in my recollection that everyone in the industry has come together and we all just had a ball.

“It went so well that we actually want to do it next year.”

Lancashire Brick and Tile Ltd has recently been involved in projects such as supplying and sourcing the brick and cobbles to the new Coronation Street set and studios, business apartments Foundry, in Ordsall Lane in Salford, Ronald McDonald House in Lambeth and student accommodation in Newcastle.

The company has also just been awarded an order, in the past week, to supply 1.2 million bricks to a project at Clippers Quay at Salford quays.

Mr Wells added: “The fundraising has bonded the team together because it has been something that everyone has been involved in.

“It was nice that we could recognise our success by raising funds that other people will benefit from.”

The money raised will go towards a number of local and national charities with the three main charities chosen a Bolton Lads and Girls Club, Help for Heroes and Cancer Research UK.

Speaking about the businesses success Mr Wells said: “It’s all down to a loyal team of staff.

“Most of the staff have been here many years and they are very good at what they do.

“We are very focused and provide a quality service.”
