WITNESSES are being sought to a hit-and-run crash which left a pensioner trapped in her car.
The 78-year-old’s Ford Ka was rammed by another vehicle from behind at speed as she drove along Chorley New Road, Bolton, on December 1 en route to a gym.
Her car smashed into bollards and spun around and she had to be pulled unhurt from the wreckage by passers-by.
The victim later praised through The Bolton News the actions of those bystanders and other motorists, as well as the emergency services, who helped her.
Her daughter Lynne Povey said: “She wanted to dwell on the overwhelming kindness of strangers she had received.”
Police continue to investigate the crash that happened around 11.20am on a busy stretch of road.
Officers found a grey or silver Volkswagen Golf dumped in a nearby streets and are examining whether it is linked to the incident.
PC Dennis Delve said: “I would urge anyone who may have witnessed this collision to please call police.
“I would also appeal to anyone who thinks they might have dash-cam footage of the collision at the time or beforehand.
“We are currently trying to trace the driver of the Golf and would urge him to contact police.”
