PUPILS at Holcombe Brook Primary School have been given the golden seal of approval.

The school has been presented with the coveted Sainsbury’s School Games gold award.

The Government led awards scheme was launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.

To achieve the award, the school had to show evidence of a large number of pupils involved in a range of competitive sports, within their own school and against other schools.

Dave Bradshaw, deputy head teacher, said: “It was great to finally achieve the gold award having previously won bronze and silver.

“This is deserved recognition for the hard work and dedication of the staff and of course, the enthusiasm and confidence demonstrated by so many children that have had chance to represent the school.”

The school has recently been sponsored four companies to purchase new kits and jackets.
